In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Valley Christian School or Bethel Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. and the casket will be open prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com.
Bob was born July 9, 1930, in Lingle, the son of Joseph and Lennie (Scott) Waggoner. He was raised on the family ranch near Jay Em. He attended grade school at Red Cloud, high school at Scott High and graduated from Torrington High School in 1948. He graduated with a B.S. in agriculture from the University of Wyoming in 1952, where he served as president of the TKE Fraternity. He served in the Korean Conflict.
Following his military service he returned to the Waggoner Hereford Ranch. He married Lois Clark on March 17, 1956, in Torrington. He served as president of the Wyoming Hereford Association and Goshen County and Wyoming Stockgrowers. He was a charter member of the Valley Christian School Board. He also organized the Yoder Fire Department. Along with his wife, Lois, Bob was very active in Goshen County 4-H, serving as a 4-H leader and beef superintendent.
Bob was a visionary and enjoyed implementing new ideas and promoting his registered Herefords along with showing and judging cattle. After dispersing his prized Hereford herd he enjoyed buying and selling real estate along with his wife, Lois. Bob and Lois enjoyed traveling and spending the winter months in Wickenburg, Ariz., the last several years of his life. By far his greatest passion was his relationship with Jesus Christ and he loved sharing his faith and discipling other men. There would be not greater honor to him than to know his life was pleasing to his Maker.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lois of Torrington; a son, Brad J. Waggoner and his wife Patti of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Brenda Garrelts and her husband Gene of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Chloe Haefele and her husband Duane of Douglas, Wyo.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Waggoner, and a sister, Dorothy Grapes.
